The International Group for Human Rights
The International Group for Human Rights is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to elevating the standards and practices of Human Rights in Yemen, the region, and worldwide. It strives to empower common people to champion their rights and become active members in the dissemination of human rights practices for the common good of individuals – particularly the marginalized. It seeks to promote the good practices of equality, justice, tolerance, empowerment, governance, literacy, reform, as well as access to resources, education, and healthcare. the group has made it a core mission to promote positive change; support solidarity initiatives; and engage in transitional reform projects.
The International Group for Human Rights is an initiative led by a group of community enthusiasts who are trained in world-class higher education institutions. The group’s mission draws on the expertise of highly qualified permanent team and an elaborated network of voluntary consultants with an established track in the development and human rights domains.
December 10, International Human Rights Day
On December 10th 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is also the day the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded.
ASSECAA Day for Democracy and Human Rights
In its continuous efforts to support human rights and democracy initiatives in Yemen, IGHR co-sponsored the ASSECAA Day for Human Rights and Democracy held on May 7th, 2012 in Sana'a, Yemen. In addition to the event co-sponsorship, IGHR presented a working paper on the Growing Power of Human Rights NGOs and their Impact on UN, International, and European Legislative Bodies.
The Event was attended by Minister of Human Rights, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Members of Shoora Council and Parliament as well as several Arab and Foreign Ambassadors to Yemen.
